SATURDAY – ARRIVAL EVENING

15.35 – Arrive Bilbao airport, where you will be met and accompanied to your hotel. First group briefing 7pm followed by personal time to explore Old Town, have dinner etc. (Note – we can accomodate people arriving in to Bilbao on other flights during the arrival days (Saturdays) listed on the departure dates page)

DAY ONE

Morning – bus to Pamplona followed by walking tour of the famous bull-run route and visit to Cafe Iruna – made famous due to Ernest Hemingway’s association with it.  Afternoon – Personal time to explore the city sights, tapas bars etc.   5.30pm – departure for  walk to Zizur Mayor (approx 8 km of very easy walking).    Evening – daily briefing followed by dinner in Hotel

DAY TWO

Morning – walk to Puente La Reine (a walk of approx 21 km mainly on tracks (remainder on minor asphalt roads), through some of the most spectacular and beautiful scenery you will see on your trip.  Includes the hike over the Alto de Perdon which would be regarded as of moderate difficulty, and passes through some beautiful hamlets which the modern world seems to have passed by).  Afternoon/Evening  – personal time to rest in your hotel/ explore this beautiful medieval town with its famous bridge, and then participation in our daily briefing /review of our day followed by dinner/personal time

DAY THREE

Morning – walk to Estella  (approx 20 km through undulating countryside and many small unspoilt towns and villages, Terrain is relatively easy, on tracks except where the Camino passes through villages, and scenery is wonderful).  Afternoon/Evening  –  personal time to rest in your hotel/ explore the town which is known for its stone bridge and lively squares with noisy restaurants and bars and then participation in our daily briefing /review of our day followed by dinner/personal time

DAY FOUR

Morning – walk to Los Arcos (approx 22 km through some of the most beautiful scenery of the week, dominated by remote vineyards, cereal crops, and small villages steeped in history). Stop en route for a guided tour of a third generation family owned Bodega (winery), Bodegas Irache,  exclusively for our small group – not to be missed!  (This is a well known Bodega which wins top awards around the world for its delicious wines). Afternoon/evening  – personal time to rest in your hotel/ explore this magnificant walled town and the beautiful Church of Santa Maria, famous for its evening pilgrim Mass  and then participation in our daily briefing /review of our day followed by dinner/personal time.

DAY FIVE

Morning – walk to Viana  (approx 18 km of pleasant/easy walking through undulating terrain and through lovely old towns with quirky bars/cafes and beautiful old churches/architecture).  Afternoon – personal time to rest in your hotel/ explore this charming old town with its quirky pedestrianised streets and lively bars/restaurants. Evening – daily briefing followed by dinner/personal time

DAY SIX

Morning – walk to Logrono  (approx 8 km of very easy walking).  Spare time to sample the world- famous tapas bars along the Calle Laurel and visit the Cathedral in the Old Town.  3.00pm  – Bus to Bilbao.    Evening  – final briefing with refreshments and awards, followed by optional trip up funicular to Artxanda Park for spectacular views of the city of Bilbao/ personal time to enjoy the city

DAY SEVEN

Morning – Personal time for last minute shopping / explore the delights of Bilbao, including the Old Town,  Guggenheim Museum, Basilica De Santiago, etc . 2pm – Depart for airport   4.15pm – Flight to Dublin departs
